Another of Ben's stream of consciousness emails for you to decipher =]

Yeah that happens generally. Especially with Frank and Karma in the chapel, your gonna stay back and talk to them a bit....

the people of Ghana and how humble and full of faith they are, how, when they enter the celestial room of the temple, they fall to their knees and pray, instead of chatting about where they are going out to eat afterwards

Thats pretty true, we do do that, even the missionaries in the provo temple do that...

Technology--gotta love it, but it's so easy to abuse. It sure makes it easy to keep in touch with a missionary, though!

Awhhhhh! =P Well it is how it is, and Dad is the best youth leader I know, I wouldnt really question it, cuz it definitely works.

The San Diego Zoo is waaaay bigger than Santa Barbara Zoo--just think, the elephant exhibit alone is 7 acres

Hahahaha whats an acre, I havent thought in miles in a long time, its all metric down here. But really thats alot of space. Just remember that is how I got to be my skinny manly self =P So go for it.

We played Apples to Apples until midnight. They kept it pretty tame, probably because of me, not Alyson. Funny how protective the girls are of my sensibilities! But it was still pretty funny from time to time. We enjoyed getting to know Nick. He is a pretty awesome guy.

Ha ha Im happy Char found her Prince Charming... Well of course they kept it tame. When they get wild the game goes on for 2 hours more than normal because they are laughing so hard.

Alright tell the little one to be good and take lots of pictures and send them to me. =) I cant complain Im in Argentina.

Speaking of the country in which I am at, I remember something you said a few weeks(or two months not sure) ago about meeting Presidente Salas. Idea, if you havent already sent the package, you can ask him to take it with him somehow. =P

All is well here in zion. Its getting colder, but thats not whats really important. I am working and I feel really good about the people here in this ward. I love each of them for their spirits and that they actually want to help the missionaries instead of asking the missionaries to help them. I still havent seen an email from Deb, and really I would love emails from everyone, so with my address here for snail mail put up my email too. It would be great to hear from everyone in the ward all of their experiences. I love you all and am serving the Lord and I know it. He knows it, and I am living up to that calling.

Again, Ben is responding directly to his mother's email. The parts in italics have been copied and pasted from Mom's email for clarification.

Love the pictures, and my missionary mommy. Thats way cool about the primary activity, and I hope that those missionaries used that opportunity to talk with the parents. From what the stake is telling me(they send us a letter each month) Newbury Park is about to take the top off and will see a lot of success in the missionary department.
Still havent heard from Deb, and I am waiting on a few other emails from everyone else.
Oh President Brimhall! Hes awesome. I cant believe how big everyone is. I sound like a grandpa, but really Ty is huge and so is Kyle. Its hard to tell. You sent them in the SUPER SMALL format, but its cool I can just wait until the package comes with the prints. =)

People are way freaked that you've lost so much weight...it IS just because you're eating differently and being much more active, right? I won't worry as long as you don't lose too much more.

Ha ha I am kind of freaked out even if you arent. I plan to gain back some of this weight, but in muscle. Even funnier than me playing futbol is me doing situps and pushups and lifting weights. HAHHAHA. Its weird, but very um enlightening... wow bad pun. Seriously now I am kind of cluing in to the "you need a bigger size elder ludlow" thing when we were shopping.

I told Nick that, 24 years ago, it was just about this hectic, but with different faces, when I got married there. [Ben's cousin, Charlotte, got married on the 15th. This is Ben's mom referring to what she said to Charlotte's new husband, Nick]

Yeah can you believe that next year you are Dad will have been married for 25 years? that I will be 21 next year, and that Alyson will be 16, and Sarah will be...old....=P Yeah its crazy how time flies, but trust me its all over in a moment. I have kind of a mini-life here in the mission. Its like I get married and divorced every 6 weeks and my investigators are like my children. even if it doesnt make sense it does in my mind so dont judge me too much

Well this week was a week of many different surprises. We had our interviews with President (our last ones with P. Olsen) and our last Zone Conference (again last, so it was in the mission home which is beautifully designed by Elder Scott) In our interviews President gave each of us a blessing. It was super powerful, and believe me when I saw that I know that Heavenly Father loves me. The Zone conference we talked about how Preach my Gospel is the tool we are have to use every day to really be effective. I have to repent a little bit, because for the most part my studies have been to read the book of mormon in spanish, so I am finding amazing and wonderfully powerful doctrine to use and help the people here in Ayacucho. We also talked about partiarchal blessings. That was Presidents Final Thought for the conference, because he said he was giving us the same thing he gives to all the elders who finish their missions. It was very cool because there are 3 parts (and it helps to read it and make a list of these things) blessings, warnings, and gifts and talents.(Sarah try it) Yeah way cool.
Yeah and then we worked this saturday with the young men and brought 2 investigators and they joined right in, they are so awesome. Facundo and Andres are gonna get baptized. Elder Machuca is teaching me tons of ways to talk to and work with the people and I notice more and more the sharp contrast with Elder Velasquez. Its great to be here and work. I love you all and hope all is well (well I see things are well, but I hope that things are as good as they appear). I know this work is the work of God, and that I am serving Him and doing all I can to help the people here. I know that Jesus Christ lives, is my Savior, Redeemer, and Friend. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it contains the gospel in its entirety. I love you mom. keep up the good work. I know you all are being blessed.

May 17, 2010

Wow this week was great.
Elder Machuca is from Viña del Mar, Chile. He is super cool, and we are doing work. I am in an old area of Elder Robisons and everyone says that I am like a second Elder Robison. hahaahhaha. oh and the official number is 29 kilos. I am playing soccer too. Apparently having three goals in one game is pretty good. =) Gonna play some more today. I am super happy here in Ayacucho. I am going to baptize here too, and I hope I get to stay here for a little while. The ward here is amazing. I yeah... Super happy and doing lots of work here. Sorry if its not much to say, its just how do you write these things. I will keep better track of the week next week and maybe have more to say. I got an awesome letter from Sister Bennetts seminary class, tell Kevin Baldwin that the lightning powers came with the calling, its all in controlling your amazing spiritual lightning powers.
I love you all and miss you

May 10, 2010

Despite some technical difficulties, we were able to talk to Ben on Mothers' Day.
It was a little weird; because of the weekly emails, we didn't have a whole lot of updates for each other. I tried to speak to him in Spanish, but with the bad connection and all the commotion, it was rather short-lived.
As a result of our phone call, his email the next day was on the brief side.

It goes as follows:

Yeah so I had my stuff to send pictures, and I left it in the old area. So yeah. I will send them when I can. It was kinda weird talking to you all last night, because of the crazy things going on around me and the whole talking to my family thing. It made it kind of hard to sleep because its a, I know what I am doing and who its for, and at the same time I miss you all. But yeah. I will have more to tell you all next week, for now I am here with Elder Machuca in Ayacucho and its a ward again, and we are gonna do work. Its gonna be good. =)
Love you
Elder Ludlow
